Pablo Mielgo, conductor from Madrid, is artistic and musical director of the Oquestra Simfònica de les Illes Balears (OSIB) since 2014, and since 2020 of Syphony of the Americas (SOTA). He studied at the Royal Conservatory of his hometown (Almudena Cano), the Queen Sofia School (Galina Egyazrarova) and the Guildhall School of Music in London (Joan Havill). In addition, he created a network of numerous musical friendships between Berlin, Beijing and Qatar, Lucerne and Los Angeles, with renowned musicians, which now enrich the concert programs of OSIB and SOTA.
Pablo Mielgo has collaborated and assisted conductors such as James Conlon, Jesús López Cobos, Daniel Barenboim and Claudio Abbado. He regularly conducts on the great stages of Europe such as the Wiener Konzerthaus and Musikverein, USA such as Carnegie Hall New York, Latin America, Asia and the Middle East. In close artistic collaboration, the Madrilenian has worked with major international orchestras and collaborate regularly with soloists such as Juan Diego Florez, the Labeque sisters, Pierre-Laurent Aimard, Emmanuel Pahud, Midori, Khatia Buniatishvili Julian Rachlin, Franz Peter Zimmerman, Pinkas Zukermann, Sondra Radvanosky, Pretty Yende, Leo Nucci, etc.
Since 2005 he has been the music and artistic director of the SaludArte Foundation, which aims to generate social change through music. Pablo Mielgo initiated several musical events with great international recognition such as the Spain-Venezuela Festival, the Madrid International Music Festival "Madrid me suena", the tour of the Joven Orquesta Iberoamericana through Spain and the USA, IberOpera as well as "Live, connecting the world through music". Together with his wife Nina Heidenreich, he has also created the cultural institution 443 to help young generations in their first career steps.
Pablo Mielgo has always had a great vocation for generating new orchestral artistic projects; the Orquesta Juvenil Presjovem which brought together the best young Spanish musicians, the Orquesta Juvenil Iberoamericana and the "Harmony Symphony orchestra" together with the United Nations. In cooperation with Sir Colin Davis, he founded the BandArt Orchestra. From 2011 to 2017, he co-directed together with Alejandro Posada and Roberto González, the Academia Filarmónica de Medellin generating the current "Academia Iberoamericana".
As chief conductor of the OSIB since 2014 and of the SOTA since 2020, he has successfully driven the development of both orchestras in several aspects based on his international experience: Pablo Mielgo has improved the quality of the orchestra and its programs, increased ticket sales and developed its network with guest performances, youth programs and top artists. He has also promoted the construction of the "Caja de Música", which will be the new artistic headquarters of the OSIB from next summer 2023.
